NORTHSTATE, Calif. — The pilot and paramedic injured in the REACH Medical helicopter crash in Sacramento are making progress in their recovery.
On Monday, October 6, a medical helicopter from Redding crashed onto Highway 50, leaving the three people onboard critically injured. A few days later, as a result of the injuries the nurse, Susan “Suzie” Smith, passed away.
The other two people on board of the helicopter were Pilot Chad Millward and Paramedic Margaret “DeDe” Davis. On Tuesday, October 28, REACH Air Medical Services announced that the pilot was released from the hospital this week and the paramedic was discharged late last week.
REACH Air Medical Services said they are deeply grateful to everyone who has kept their crew and families in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging time. They added that while they celebrate the ongoing progress of Chad and DeDe, they also honor the memory of Suzie Smith and recognize her remarkable contributions to the local community. They said information about Suzie’s memorial service may be shared by her family.
