West Sacramento Police make DUI arrest outside River City High School – Daily Democrat

West Sacramento Police officers stopped a DUI suspect near River City High School, preventing a potential tragedy on Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 1:28 p.m. on Nov. 5, officers responded to the 3800 block of Jefferson Boulevard regarding a suspected DUI driver in a white 2019 Honda Civic. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to yield and led officers on a slow-speed pursuit that briefly continued into Clarksburg before turning back toward West Sacramento.

As the suspect drove erratically toward River City High School during student release time, officers strategically deployed spike strips, successfully deflating all four tires. Despite this, the suspect continued driving northbound on Jefferson Boulevard toward the school.

Recognizing the immediate danger to students and the community during dismissal, officers acted decisively and executed a precision immobilization technique (PIT) near the school entrance, safely stopping the vehicle before it reached the student release zone.

The school was briefly placed on a precautionary lockdown. The female driver was taken into custody without further incident. The vehicle was confirmed stolen out of Sacramento. She was transported for medical clearance and later booked into the Yolo County Jail on multiple charges, including vehicle theft, DUI, evading police and resisting arrest.

“We thank the River City High School staff, students, and families for their cooperation and understanding during today’s incident,” the West Sacramento Police Department released in a statement.

No officers, students, or community members were injured.
