- FeNAM: Faculty Jazz Nonet 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at Sacramento State. Experience guest saxophonist Vincent Herring at the annual Festival of New American Music. Herring’s intense, soulful, multi-noted style and ebullient swing have excited audiences worldwide. Free and open to the public.
- Legal Fusion 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the Citizen Hotel, Autograph Collection. Join the Wiley W. Manuel Bar Association at the Citizen Hotel for our annual gala celebrating legal excellence and awarding scholarships to local law students. The keynote speaker is Dr. Michele Foss-Snowden. 2025 awardees include Justice Stacey Boulware Eurie, Court of Appeal, Third District, for the lifetime achievement award; Carmen-Nicole Cox, president of the Cox Law Firm for Law and Policy, for attorney of the year; and Larry Lee, president and publisher of The OBSERVER, for community service. - FeNAM: Chromatic Brass Collective 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Sacramento State. The Festival of New American Music continues with a performance by the Chromatic Brass Collective, an organization founded by Black women for brass musicians that celebrates, performs, mentors and educates in an effort to increase the visibility of racially and ethnically underrepresented women and gender non-conforming people throughout the brass world. Free and open to the public.
- Sacramento Kings vs. Golden State Warriors 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Golden 1 Center. Come out for the Battle of the Bay and cheer on your Sacramento Kings as they take on Steph Curry and the Warriors. Tickets from $76.
- Black Professionals Networking Event 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at Urban Roots Brewery, 1322 V St. Join the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the National Black MBA Association for an evening dedicated to the power of networks. A dynamic panel conversation explores how authentic connections fuel leadership, business, and community growth. This event welcomes Black professionals, entrepreneurs, and allies who align with our mission, as well as college students (21+). Tickets are $23.
- Roman Catholic Diocese of Sacramento Black Catholic History Month Revival 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday-Friday, Nov. 6-7, and 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at St. Anthony Catholic Church and Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, respectively. Rev. Anthony Bozeman, a Roman Catholic priest of St. Joseph’s Society of the Sacred Heart, also known as the Josephites, will serve as the revivalist, as well as the mass celebrant and homilist. Black Catholic History Month seeks to recognize and celebrate the contributions of Black Catholics; educate others about the history and heritage of Black Catholics; highlight the presence and influence of Black Catholics throughout church history; promote awareness of Black Catholic saints and figures; and encourage reflection on the broader history of Christianity in Africa and the African diaspora. Free and open to the public.
- Godfrey – Live Comedy 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, and 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Nov. 7-8, at Punch Line Comedy Club. Godfrey is an American comedian and actor known for his energetic and observational style, often incorporating voices and impressions. Tickets from $38.
- The Soul Space Summit 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at 6701 Lemon Hill Ave. A powerful day of inspiration, practical tools, and community connection. Experience dynamic speakers such as licensed clinical social worker Bianca Brown and health educator Olivia Derizaire, interactive workshops, and real conversations from a panel of licensed professionals. - Trevor Noah – Live Comedy 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at Thunder Valley Casino, Lincoln. Trevor Noah’s comedy is a masterful blend of sharp observational humor, political and social satire, and cultural commentary, all delivered with a unique perspective shaped by his South African upbringing. Tickets from $65.
- Black Hair & Black Hygiene Project Collection Drive 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the African Research Institute Office, 4104 44th St. The drive will gather personal hygiene items such as travel-size toothpaste, aftershave, Vaseline, hair grease, lotions, toothbrushes, shampoos, conditioners, soaps, hand sanitizer, and hand warmers and warm clothing items (including beanies, socks, scarves, gloves, tarps, and belts, for the unhoused and others. These items will be distributed to the unhoused and other community members at the event.
- Freedom’s Allies: Mary Brown & Mary Ellen Pleasant Noon-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the California Museum. A special program honoring the legacies of Mary Brown and Mary Ellen Pleasant, two extraordinary women whose lives were deeply connected to the fight for freedom and equality. Guests will experience an artifact unveiling, a historical performance by Emmy-winning actor Dr. Susheel Bibbs, a reception featuring light refreshments, and access to all museum exhibits. Tickets are $20.
- Sneaker Ball 2025: Presented by Improve Your Tomorrow 5:30-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Center at 2300, 2300 Sierra Blvd. Get ready for the party of the year! The Sneaker Ball is IYT’s signature event, and a fundraising gala that folks look forward to all year long. Attendees put on their best black tie attire, complete with their favorite pair of sneakers to dance the night away. This is an incredible opportunity to connect with leaders and decision-makers in business, education, government, and philanthropy, discover IYT’s far-reaching impact, and help support the next generation of change-makers. - Black Women in Poetry: Autumn Flow 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Blue Cue, 1004 28th St. Celebrate the creativity and talent of Black women poets. Hear from poets like Micaiah, Dohjah, and J. Rowe. Come together with fellow poetry enthusiasts to listen, share, and connect in a supportive and inspiring environment. This session is open to all who appreciate the power of words. - ‘Hometown Heroes’ Record Release Party 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Oak Park Brewing Co., 3514 Broadway. Come out for Andrew Lozano’s “Hometown Heroes Vol. 1” official vinyl release party! A celebration of Sacramento’s hip-hop scene. Hear the new album, featuring a powerhouse lineup of early 2000s Sacramento hip-hop legends (members of Live Manikins, The People’s Revolution, The CUF, and more) and enjoy craft beer, wine, and a taco food truck on-site. - EARL SWEATSHIRT: 3L World Tour 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at Ace of Spades. The 3L World Tour is Earl Sweatshirt’s most recent major headlining tour, launched in support of his latest album, “Live Laugh Love.” The tour’s title, a characteristic blend of irony and introspection, plays on the popular phrase, tying into his minimalist, emotionally dense musical style.
