MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials in Wisconsin say that a pair of vehicles racing on a major Wisconsin roadway led to a fiery crash that shut the highway down for several hours.
The Madison Police Department reported that two vehicles were spotted racing eastbound on the Beltline around 11:20 a.m. on Monday, when one of the two hit an uninvolved crash, pushing it into a semi.
The vehicle flipped over onto the westbound Beltline and caught fire. According to the release, three people were spotted running away from the scene as they entered another vehicle and fled.

The crash closed all westbound lanes and two eastbound lanes of the Beltline near Todd Drive for several hours. Nobody was injured during the incident, which is still under investigation.
Officials have not made any arrests and say that the crash doesn’t appear to be connected to a fatal crash that occurred earlier on Madison’s east side on Monday.
