Following a construction permit filed earlier this month, Universal Orlando has seemingly confirmed that Epic Universe is already set to expand.
Epic Universe to Receive “Exciting Additions”
The Orlando Business Journal received an official statement from Alyson Sologaistoa, Vice President of Public Relations for Universal Orlando Resort:
“[Universal Orlando] is preparing for some exciting additions to Universal Epic Universe in the future. … Details about specific developments will be shared in due time.”
The statement alludes to news of a permit filed on November 7 for “site utilities and foundation work” and “new construction” on a 150,000 square foot location in Epic Universe. No further details were given in the permit.
As this new building would be roughly the size of the Le Cirque Arcanus show building and Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry combined, it has led to rampant speculation that this is the first new ride being constructed at Epic Universe since the park’s opening earlier this year. If the rumors are true, the addition would be to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic.
Much criticism has been given of the long wait times and limited number of indoor attractions at Universal Epic Universe over the last several months, so it would be no surprise that an expansion to the attraction capacity is necessary for guest enjoyment. Still, Universal is not ready to state what this expansion will include, so the speculation will rage on.
