The Violent Hour‘s “Sex And Cigarettes” music video has landed online, closely following word of their their first-ever tour. That project is fronted by Carla Harvey (Lords Of Acid, ex-Butcher Babies) and features music co-written by her husband, Charlie Benante (Anthrax, Pantera). The longtime couple just finally tied the knot last month.
Since starting the band with Benante, Harvey has went on to build up its live counterpart, which now includes lead guitarist Kiana De Leon, rhythm guitarist Allie Kay, bassist Jewel Steele and drummer Sasha De Leon. Harvey had the following to say about the clip that now accompanies this track:
“For the video, I wanted to capture that energy and the instant camaraderie we had as a band in a modern, Russ Meyer-esque fever dream that turns a simple road trip to a gig into absolute madnes. I enlisted director Nathan Mowery to bring the vision to life. He’s not only a filmmaker but also a wrestler, so I knew he’d nail the finale I imagined. I write all my own video treatments and personally scouted most of the locations — from Circus Liquor to L.A.’s infamous Mustang Motel. Even tracking down that badass red convertible was part of the adventure. The final cut is exactly how I dreamed it — gritty, sexy and a little unhinged… just like the song.”
That video is presently streaming exclusively via Revolver.
