One thing about me is that I’m constantly browsing Facebook Marketplace, whether I’m working at my laptop during the day and need a quick brain break or am waiting in line scrolling through my phone. Being constantly on the hunt has paid off, literally—I’ve found no shortage of treasures on the app over the years and have saved tons of money off of standard retail prices as a result. Take the four items highlighted below, which I scored at unbelievable discounts. Check out my finds and then use this as inspiration to fuel your next FBMP binge!
A Brass Bamboo Floor Lamp
This lamp was one of the first items I bought on Facebook Marketplace after moving to New York City in the summer of 2021. It cost me $100 and captured my attention right away due to its brass bamboo-style base and chic curved shape. It’s become one of the most sought after items in my home—over the past few years, countless people have messaged me on Instagram asking for further details about it—or begging me to sell it to them! While the lamp doesn’t have any maker’s marks on it, my online searching suggests it’s a Mario Buatta for Frederick Cooper floor lamp, and I did find what I believe to be its twin in a past 1st Dibs listing (priced at a whopping $1,200!).

A Sizable Greek Key Chest
This Greek key chest caught my eye the second I spotted it during my Marketplace scroll, and even though buying it meant rearranging the entire layout of my living room, scoring this beauty for $175 was more than worth the effort. Sizable and full of storage capabilities, the chest came from an elderly man’s apartment in my Upper East Side neighborhood and is another frequently asked about piece in my home. The closest comp I could find is this very similar new, handcrafted chest which is available for $4,400—eek!

A Chic Brass Bar Cart
I’d long lusted over this elegant, small space-friendly brass bar cart from Soho Home, which retailed for $795, but I could never justify the price. So I resisted for years … until I came across the exact model listed for $375 on Facebook Marketplace. By offering same day pickup, I managed to negotiate the price for this beauty down to $300, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. While $300 isn’t nothing, it’s more than 60 percent off of retail, which isn’t a bad deal. Furthermore, the Soho Home listing is now discontinued, which makes me extra glad I scooped this up secondhand when I did!

An Oversized Planter
When a friend came across a listing for a pair of oversized pots like the one shown here and asked if I wanted to buy one, I was immediately sold. I paid her $100 for mine and couldn’t be happier—large plant pots usually cost a small fortune. Take this one, for example: it’s marked down to $3,400 from $3,900 and measures 26 inches wide by 36 inches tall. I think mine might be even bigger—I can actually stand inside it! I love how much of a statement it makes in my living room; its size and texture bring so much life to any corner.
