Sugar Blvd ice cream shop closing after final farewell

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A local family ice cream shop in Midtown is scooping its final cones after years of serving the community.

Sugar Blvd, a women-owned business operated by Madison Burdette, her mother and her sister, will close when its product runs out. The timing is projected to be around July 4, but could come sooner or later depending on inventory.

The shop had originally planned to shut down on Memorial Day, but strong customer support helped extend the closing date into early July.

“The support has been insane and we’re grateful for every single person that has come through this door whether they liked it, whether they hated it, they’ve been just a great community,” Burdette said.

The family is hosting a farewell celebration until closing, offering special combinations and signature flavors from throughout the years.

“We are going to be posting different cones, crazy combinations, my mom is going to release a few things, kind of some hits that we’ve had throughout the years,” Burdette said.

Sugar Blvd is located at 704 South Virginia St Suite A in Reno. The shop is open Thursday through Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The shop is closed Monday through Wednesday.
