Second-crop stallion Mr. Money registered his first black-type stakes winner when his 2-year-old son Mr Mo Money won the $100,000 Joseph R. Peluso Memorial Stakes Nov. 20 at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.
The 6-furlong stakes on the main track was for accredited Louisiana-breds. Walter Horton’s Mr Mo Money already had placed in three stakes for trainer Brett Brinkman in his first five starts.
In Thursday’s race he broke alertly under jockey Thomas Pompell then settled into a stalking trip in third place. He launched a four-wide move on the far turn and hit the lead around the three-sixteenths pole. He persevered through the wire to win by 1 1/2 lengths. His final time for 6 furlongs on the track rated fast was 1:11.70. He paid $45.40 to win.
Mr. Money stands at Clear Creek Stud near Folsom, La. He moved there in 2023 after standing at Journeyman Stallions in Florida his first two seasons. Mr. Money, by Goldencents , was a five-time grade 3 winner on the track. His 2026 stud fee has been set at $2,500.
Mr Mo Money was bred by Allied Racing Stable and is the second foal out of the winning Uncle Mo mare Mo Gayle. Horton bought him for $5,000 at the 2024 Texas Thoroughbred Association Yearling Sale. He now sports a 2-2-2 record from six starts with earnings of $124,850.
