Since Prince Harry stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and moved to California, he has remained vocal about the royal family in various interviews.
His candid revelations during the explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey and the numerous bombshell claims in his memoir Spare have undoubtedly caused disruption within the monarchy.
In one particular interview in April 2022, the Duke of Sussex spoke with The Today Show before the Invictus Games in The Hague, which had been postponed from 2020. Prior to their journey to The Netherlands for the Games, Harry and Meghan made a quick visit to see the late Queen Elizabeth at Windsor.
When asked about the well-being of the late Queen during his conversation with Today host Hoda Kotb, he responded, “Being with her, it was great.
“It was just so nice to see her, you know, she’s on great form, she’s always got a great sense of humour with me and I’m making sure she’s protected and got the right people around her.”
In that tell-all conversation, where Harry and Meghan dropped several bombshells about the royal family, the Duke of Sussex expressed concern that the Queen had occasionally received poor counsel from those in her circle.
He reflected, “When you’re head of the Firm there are people around you that give you advice. And what has also made me really sad is some of that advice has been really bad.”
During the 2022 interview, Harry also shared warm memories of his grandmother, recounting how he brought joy to her during a brief visit. Although he enjoyed his time with the royals, he confirmed that his permanent home is now in California.
Interviewer Hoda Kotb inquired, “You make her laugh, that’s what she always says. Did you do it again?” Harry responded affirmatively with a smile, adding, “Yes I did. Both Meghan and I had tea with her so it was nice to catch up with her.
“Home for me now is for the time being is in the States and it feels that way as well. We’ve been welcomed with open arms and we have such a great community up in Santa Barbara.”
