Na Kyung-won, a member of the People’s Power Party, criticized the government’s decision to operate its own task force (TF) to investigate whether public officials participated in illegal activities before and after the December 3 emergency martial law incident, saying, “We are purging the rebellion by stealing the mobile phones of 750,000 public officials.”
Representative Na said on the 13th through the social network service (SNS), “It is said that it will also verify business computers (PCs), mobile phone KakaoTalk, and digital data.”
Earlier on the 11th, the government unveiled a detailed plan for the “Constitutional Respect Government Innovation TF” proposed by Prime Minister Kim Min-seok at a Cabinet meeting. The TF’s investigation targets all 49 central administrative agencies, excluding presidential and independent agencies.
TF can view both business PCs and written materials during the investigation process. The Prime Minister’s Office explains that personal mobile phones will be encouraged to submit them voluntarily, but if they do not cooperate even though there are suspicions, they will also consider requesting an investigation after waiting and releasing their position.
Regarding this, Rep. Na said, “Submission with your own consent? It is said that non-cooperation may be followed by a waiting order, a position release, and an investigation request. There will be a lot of false accusations and personal attacks between colleagues at the same agency,” he said bitterly.
He then pointed out, “It seems that we see again the tragedy that caused the collapse of society during the Korean War by accusing each other of communists and compatriots who wore the armband of the People’s Committee on the invasion of South Korea and purged their neighbors as reactionaries.”
He urged, “We need to resume the trial of President Lee Jae-myung, the head of the crime in Daejang-dong, and the criminal president, as soon as possible to end this tragedy.”
Rep. Na also shared a media report that President Lee said at a lecture in November 2016 when he was the mayor of Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, “You should never take your phone away if you have an accident,” adding, “Didn’t he say that he should not take the phone away and that he forgot the password?”
