A collision and car fire reported on Capital City Freeway near Street involved three vehicles caused major delays on the Capital City Freeway I-80 near N street in Sacramento on Tuesday afternoon, November 4, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the collision was reported around 4:20 p.m. near N Street. One of the vehicles became engulfed in flames shortly after the crash, sending up a column of thick black smoke visible from surrounding areas. Emergency crews responded quickly to extinguish the fire and provide assistance to those involved.
The three vehicles came to rest in the center divider, blocking two northbound lanes and causing significant traffic congestion during the afternoon commute. By 5:12 p.m., CHP confirmed the lanes were cleared and traffic was slowly returning to normal. Authorities later reported that minor injuries resulted from the crash.
