Kris Jenner on Her Family’s Chic Holiday Decor and Viral Wrapping Paper

The holiday season is so close we can basically smell the pine needles and taste the hot cocoa. But behind the most wonderful time of the year comes a lot of preparation. Decorating your home? Making a list, and checking it twice? Wrapping all your presents? It can be a lot. If you want to streamline the preparation so you can jump right to the holiday cheer, Kris Jenner is here to help.

The reality star and momager extraordinaire teamed up with Amazon for its “Let’s Unpack That” campaign, where she shares her favorite holiday memories and go-to products that make this season merry and bright. At the core of this collaboration is Jenner’s passion for making every moment (big and small) feel magical.

“I was raised with the idea that life is to be celebrated and is about making memories with your family,” Jenner tells Good Housekeeping. “It’s so amazing to go online, see these beautiful, amazing things, and get inspiration for what you want to do with your celebrations. And then—being so easy to order [on Amazon], and have everything there the next day—it’s instant gratification.”

Variety might be the spice of life, but it’s also the secret to Jenner’s joyful holiday decor. “It’s important to have a selection of items, so you can be very spontaneous and versatile,” she shares.

This year, Jenner’s paying homage to Christmases past with her beloved Christopher Radko ornaments. “He makes the most beautiful Christmas ornaments you’ve ever seen in your life,” Jenner shares. “I’ve been collecting them since I was a little girl, and I have trees with these ornaments that have been in my family since before I had children.”

While Jenner gifted her vintage ornaments to daughters Kendall and Kylie last year, she wants to make these time-honored pieces a focal point of her decor. “I collected them for so many years,” she explains. “I have enough for all of us.”

Speaking of old-school touches, Jenner says she’s planning to add some Ralph Lauren-inspired Christmas decor to her home. “I love plaid,” she tells Good Housekeeping. “I am going to do something with some plaid bows, a plaid tree skirt, and maybe some burgundy in there. I’m excited!”

In fact, Jenner reveals she’s bringing the buzzy trend to her wrapping paper. For the uninitiated, each member of the Kardashian-Jenner family has a signature way to package their presents—a decorating trick Jenner learned after some trial and error.

“When I had my first Christmas when I was married, the tree was so cute,” Jenner recalls. “It was very nostalgic, but all the paper was all over the place: A few wrapped in this print, and a few wrapped in that print. Although they sort of went together, they didn’t.” Now, she prefers a “very organized, consistent” wrapping paper routine—and has passed her preference down to her children.

“All those gifts wrapped like that are from me, Kim, Kylie, or whoever it happens to be,” she says. “We do Christmas morning at my house, so [everyone] drops the gifts off [before], and I have fun looking at all the different wrapping paper the kids have chosen.”

This year, Jenner picked a green background plaid paper with matching green ribbon she bought on Amazon. “The edges of the ribbon are a little bit frayed, so it just looks old-fashioned,” she notes. “I might put a piece of pine under the ribbon and write their names on a little piece of craft paper with dark green ink.”

Regardless of the occasion, no Jenner party is complete without a gorgeous tablescape. “I’m nuts about tableware, and anybody who knows me knows I love to set a great table,” she shares. “It’s about creating an experience for yourself or your family, where you walk into your living space and you can make magic.”

Though Jenner loves a formal setting—her tables typically include a water glass, wine glass, and champagne glass, even if she’s not serving bubbly—she loves to lean into a theme. “If I’m going to [serve] Italian, my dishes are going to look different and there’s going to be different kinds of candles,” she says. Speaking of candles, Jenner says she loves a candelabra and often mixes tall tapers with smaller votives.

The perfect finishing touch? Something from Mother Nature. Jenner says she loves to incorporate magnolia branches, rosemary from her neighborhood, or white iceberg roses, which she’s been planting in her garden since she was 20 years old. “You can catch me clipping stuff from Khloé’s garden or my garden,” she shares. “I love putting little vases down the middle of my table. You can make all different scenescapes and it feels different according to what you want the mood to be.”

While Jenner is no stranger to creating a festive atmosphere, she says the best gatherings come from setting an intention. “It’s important to invite people over and say, ‘Let’s try to celebrate something,'” she says. “Sometimes, we don’t feel like celebrating, but once you get in the mood, you’d be surprised by how many people will suddenly have the time of their lives.”

Don’t want to throw a big holiday party? No problem. Jenner says uncorking a bottle of champagne, playing games, or watching holiday movies can feel just as special. (Home Alone, The Santa Claus, and The Grinch are a few of her favorites.) “It can be two people or 12 people,” she says. “The first step is setting a date and inviting people over and the rest will come.”
