Help Us Support Unhoused Youth

Dear Sac City Unified families,

November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month and housing insecurity is more common than you may think. Did you know that 1 in 14 students in Sacramento City Unified School District will experience homelessness or housing instability at some point during their school career?

Across Sacramento County, more than 19,000 students faced homelessness last year — including unaccompanied youth who are navigating abuse, neglect, and instability while trying to stay in school and socialize with their peers. These kids deserve love and support.

Donate Time, Money, or Hygiene Products

If you’re in a position to help, here are 3 ways to give this holiday season:

1. Hygiene Drive

Bring full-sized (please no travel-sized) hygiene products to the Serna Center lobby blue bin now through Friday, November 21 at 5pm.

  • We need items like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, menstrual products, diapers, wipes, hairbrushes, etc.

  • We also need shelf-stable kids snacks.

  • At this time we do not have room for any clothing donations.

2. Volunteer for Alchemist CDC

We partner with Alchemist CDC to provide our unhoused families with food whenever possible. Sorting and packaging donations and delivering food boxes are extremely helpful ways to pitch in your time for your community. Sign up here

3. Fund Food for SCUSD Families

Consider making a monetary donation to Alchemist CDC through this link that directly allocates food funds for Sac City Unified families.
