FCC Extends Filing Deadlines As Government Reopens; Asks For Limited Filings

FCC Seal 2020 Federal Communications CommissionAs the federal government reopens today, the FCC has extended its filing deadlines.

The Commission noted, “given the unprecedented length of the shutdown, we anticipate that the public will have an exceptionally large number of filings and submissions that they will want to provide the FCC over a relatively short period of time as we resume normal operations.”

To ease burdens of filers and staff all deadlines that were due to be filed between October 1 and Monday, November 17 will be extended immediately through Tuesday, November 18 with additional guidances to be provided before Tuesday that will provide additional flexibility on filing deadlines for certain specific systems, matters, and programs.

The extension does not affect filings made in the Network Outage Reporting System (NORS)
and Disaster Information Reporting System (DIRS) or filings related to spectrum auction activities.

Any STAs that would have expired between October 1 and November 17 are extended at least until November 18.

The FCC is also asking that until further guidance is issued, that parties limit filings and submissions except “where immediate authority is needed and to refrain from submitting filings seeking additional relief from filing deadlines for the time being.”
