Bungie has finally released the long-awaited Destiny 2: Renegades roadmap after months of silence.

Destiny 2: Renegades launches on December 2, 2025, kicking off a new season, a new campaign, and new activities. It’s been a bit of a frustrating build-up, though. Back during the Renegades reveal stream in September, Bungie said a full roadmap would be coming “in the next few weeks.”

Instead, weeks turned into months, community questions piled up, and the conversation slowly turned into, “Where is it?” That pressure eventually led to a public apology from Destiny’s comms team, who openly admitted they announced the roadmap too early.

But today, Bungie finally broke the silence. The full Renegades content calendar is now live, and there’s a lot inside: new activities, vault upgrades, big quality-of-life improvements, seasonal events, and clearer plans for the months after launch.

Destiny 2 Renegades Roadmap Explained

Earlier today, Bungie posted a full breakdown of what players can expect throughout December and the updates that follow. The graphic includes the Renegades launch on December 2, the patch landing one week later, live events through early next year, and a pretty surprising set of system upgrades.

Now, let’s go through everything it includes.

Destiny 2 Renegades Launch – Update 9.5.0 (December 2, 2025)

New Story & Activities

Renegades kicks off with a brand-new campaign set in the Lawless Frontier. Alongside that, we’re getting:

  • Lawless Frontier activity
  • A new Exotic mission
  • The new Equilibrium dungeon (more on that later)
  • A new weapon type called Blasters
  • A new Exotic sword, Praxic Blade

This update also includes wide-ranging progression improvements, aiming to make leveling feel smoother and less about grinding through filler tiers.

Progression & Power Changes

Bungie highlighted a big philosophy shift here:

  • Seasonal Power now carries between seasons, instead of resetting every major release.
  • All Exotic weapons and armor are now part of the “featured” pool, making them easier to target.
  • Power catch-up is automatic, letting returning players get bumped up quickly — Bungie calls it a jump straight to 300 Power.
  • Featured Edge of Fate gear continues forward into Renegades.

Vault Upgrades

This is a big quality-of-life change:

  • Vault capacity increases by +300, bringing the total to 1000 items.
  • New sorting and filtering tools let you search items by power, slot, date added, rarity, and more.

For long-time players with endless pages of loot, this is one of the standout improvements.

Universal Exotic Armor Ornaments

This is one of the more surprising additions. Bungie is finally letting players use any Exotic armor ornament on any Exotic of the same class and slot in PvE.

If you love the look of an ornament made for a different Exotic but prefer using something else, you can now mix them. There’s one exception: PvP always shows your Exotic’s original model for clarity.

Portal Activity Additions

Bungie is expanding the Portal playlist with several new and returning missions:

  • Typhon Imperator (Solo Ops)
  • Return of Sunless Cell (Fireteam Ops)
  • Arena Ops, including new six-player activities
  • Return of Vox Obscura and Derealize (Pinnacle Ops)

Portal rewards and cosmetics are also getting a refresh across weapons and armor.

Update 9.5.0.1 – One Week Later (December 9, 2025)

The first post-launch patch brings the new weekly ritual loop together.

Weekly Rituals

  • Vanguard Alerts (new playlist)
  • Grandmaster Vanguard Alert
  • Crucible weekly objectives
  • Arena Ops rotations

These playlists tie into the new Orders system, which includes Common, Legendary, and Exotic Orders that replace most of the old bounty structure.

Live Events & Weekly Modifiers

This is where the roadmap gets much clearer about what’s happening in the months after launch:

  • Sword Week returns
  • Tex Mechanica Foundry Sponsorship
  • The Dawning (December)
  • Arms Week: Bows (January 2026)
  • Guardian Games (March 2026)
  • Mid-Season Call to Arms (April 2026)
  • Iron Banner (date coming later)
  • Heavy Metal event
  • A rotation of surges, reward boosts, and weapon modifiers

These additions help fill the calendar between launch and the next major update in early 2026.
