Fellow Ozians/Arianators, we finally made it. Three years after going blonde, Ariana Grande is finally a brunette again, which means she’s doing the final weeks of the Wicked press tour looking a lot less like Glinda. It was about time, don’t you think? We’ve had years of Grande wearing almost exclusively baby pink, and it’s nice to see her go back to her (hair) roots.
But why did Blondiana say good-bye so early? She explained the change in an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday. “It’s fun to play with the storytelling on the press tour,” she said. “With the first press tour, I kind of wanted to celebrate Glinda in a more on-the-nose way, and be like an extension of her and extend the time with her through clothes, through the blonde, and through everything.”
For the second movie’s press cycle, Grande suggested she’s kind of over looking like a good witch. “Now I can show up as the actress that played her and play into the darker tones of the movie,” she said. “It’s fun to play with hair and makeup and fashion as an extension of what the story’s doing.”
So there you have it — it sounds like Grande is already starting to say good-bye to Glinda, or at least her wardrobe. Thank goodness, and welcome back.
