Fox News interrupted its Tuesday broadcast to announce that Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has proposed to Taylor Swift.
The news broke during a America Reports segment with John Roberts and Sandra Smith on August 26 as they were discussing President Donald Trump‘s National Guard deployment plans.
During the broadcast, John halted the discussion to share, “We have some breaking news. How about this one Sandra? Sounds like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are now engaged to be married.
“We do not have a date yet but football season is underway so it will be likely after that,” he added.
Fans were stunned that the right-leaning news show interrupted Trump news to celebrate the singer, who has an ongoing feud with the president.
On X, a Swiftie wrote, “Taylor Swift is now the #1 news item and Trump can’t compete with her news.”
Another added, “Thank you Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift (congratulations)!for getting Trump out of news briefly today! I’m overdosing on him and his lies, enough already!!!”
“Trump is going to be seething with rage when he sees Taylor Swift’s engagement announcement,” a third claimed.
The president has put his own negative thoughts on the singer aside momentarily to congratulate them.
When asked about the news during a press briefing, he first joked, “Well, I wish him a lot of luck.”
He then added, “Nah, I think it’s — I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy, and I think that she’s a terrific person. So, I wish them a lot of luck.”

In a joint Instagram post, Taylor and Travis shared their engagement news with a five-photo carousel set in a romantic garden. The caption read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
The first photo shows the NFL star down on one knee, holding the singer’s waist while she looks down at him, her hand on his face.
Taylor, wearing a black and white striped dress, flaunted her new ring featuring an oval center stone and a gold band.
The romance between Taylor and Travis sparked two years ago when the football star mentioned the pop singer on his New Heights podcast. In a July 2023 episode, the NFL player confessed he tried to make a move while attending her renowned Eras Tour.
A couple of months later, rumors circulated that the two had begun spending time together. They’ve been connected ever since.
The couple hand’t officially confirmed until this past summer when Travis uploaded a 13-photo carousel on Instagram featuring several pictures of the pair grinning from ear-to-ear.
He captioned the post, “Had some adventures this offseason, kept it,” followed by a 100 emoji.
