Deadpool is back in California Adventure for the 2025 holiday season with the triumphant return of “The Story Time with Deadpool Holiday Special.” Have they changed it up from last year?
Story Time with Deadpool
Story Time with Deadpool started as a limited-time entertainment offering in summer 2024 to promote the release of Deadpool & Wolverine. The show was such a hit that Wade Wilson returned for the holidays that year with The Story Time with Deadpool Holiday Special to tie in with the film’s streaming release on Disney+.
The now-beloved seasonal show is back for this year and Santapool has a new story to share!
The set is almost the same as last year’s, featuring a cozy fireplace with a claw-marked red leather chair and sticker-covered floor lamp. A Deadpool family portrait of Deadpools (including Dogpool) hangs above the fireplace; the mantel is decorated with red baubles and candles, plus stockings for Vanessa, Blind Al, and Peter.
A red Christmas tree features black baubles and a silver star, plus Deadpool, Wolverine, unicorn, and chimichanga ornaments. The only difference is that there are now multiple presents below the tree, as opposed to just the one yellow and blue “Wolverine” present last year. Some of them are wrapped in pink and red heart-printed Valentine’s Day paper.
The whole scene is framed by a garland adorned with red lights, ornaments, chimichangas tied with red ribbons. However, the “Presented to you by Disney+” sign from last year is now gone.
2025 Story Time with Deadpool Holiday Special
The show starts as Deadpool, wearing a custom velvet Santa suit and hat, rides in on his unicorn, who’s also sporting reindeer antlers and holiday accessories.
And while he teases that we’re getting “a brand-new, never-before-told story from Santapool,” that is not the case. Deadpool says that unfortunately management “promptly rejected” his pitch for “The Nutcrackerpool,” so he has to perform the same show as last year.
Deadpool is reading us his version of Twas the Night Before Christmas, peppered with his signature interjections and improvisations. (Spoiler: there’s a Gambit impersonation and a DC Comics IP crack.)
Wolverine arrives mid-poem to collect Deadpool, leading to some back-and-forth and crowdwork to get him in the Christmas spirit.
Wolverine reluctantly sits down to take over reading the story as Deadpool eggs him on with meta jokes.
As Wolverine wraps up the story, Deadpool mounts his “reindeercorn” and tries to take off, annoying him even more.
They finish the show with jokes about Disneyland fan service, specifically “those quirky but handsome oddball limited time characters everybody loves so much.”
Location and Showtimes
You’ll find Story Time with Deadpool in the Hyperion Theater courtyard in Hollywood, near the entrance to Avengers Campus. The family-friendly show lasts around 10 minutes.
Check the Disneyland app for the most accurate showtimes, but these were the times for the first day of performances:
