9 Best Sleep Gadgets, Tested by the Esquire Editors

The Somnee headband is definitely the most futuristic gadget on here and for that it gets a pass for its faults. Although insomniacs on Reddit swear by it, I’m not entirely sure how much it helps me sleep. I generally get good sleep, and this is designed for people who don’t. Just know results will be subjective, but if you are an insomniac willing to try a new, fun solution Somnee might make you excited to go to sleep at night (and not in a depression way).

It’s okay, you don’t actually have to sleep with this thing on. Instead you wear it for about 15 minutes (session length varies) and it sends a very low current to your brain. Crazy, I know. In practice you don’t feel much, except for sleepy.

There is an absolute ton of data to read into here, especially if you use the Somnee continually night after night. It shows detailed trends over time and personalizes its rhythms to match your brain. Once again, I know how crazy all this sounds but in practice it all feels pretty natural. If you truly can’t sleep, or just want the most info possible on your sleep, Somnee is worth a shot.
