SHREVEPORT, La. — Drivers using Interstate 20 westbound in Caddo Parish should prepare for detours starting next week as highway crews begin work on Exit 8.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development will close the westbound off-ramp to Louisiana Highway 526, also known as Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, on Monday.
Work is expected to take two weeks, with the ramp scheduled to reopen Monday, weather permitting.
Crews plan to repair concrete pavement and lengthen the deceleration lane to give exiting drivers more space to slow down safely.
During the closure, motorists traveling westbound on I-20 will detour onto U.S. Highway 80, Greenwood Road, to reach LA 526.
State officials remind drivers to allow extra time for travel, watch for congestion during peak hours, and drive with caution through construction zones.
