Traffic delays expected as Eugene crews remove sick tree, narrow lanes on Washington St.

Drivers in Eugene should expect traffic delays on Washington Street and West Broadway as crews narrow the road to one lane to remove a tree.

Spencer Crawford, the city of Eugene’s urban forestry supervisor, said the decision to remove the tree followed an incident earlier this winter.

“We had a branch coming out of this tree earlier this winter, in a little bit of a wind event and it just highlighter for us the need to take a closer look. And in that review, we felt it was needed for public safety to remove this tree,” Crawford said.
