The holidays are fast approaching, and gear from Brunt Workwear always makes a great gift. In addition to their regular lineup, there are also Limited Edition work boots and apparel dropping all month! We’re teaming up with Brunt to tell you more about what to expect and how you can get your feet into a pair.
For each boot, I’ll explain the key technologies and options, as well as help you understand who it’s a good fit for, so you can make the right choice for your personal safety and comfort.

Brunt’s Marin work boot was one of their early designs, and it was a hit right out of the gate. Inspired by Matt Marin, a carpenter friend of Brunt Workwear Founder, Eric Girouard, it’s a classic moc toe with an available waterproof lining that’s a fantastic all-around work boot for a wide range of working environments. With a ton of options, it’s Brunt’s most versatile design.
For those of you working on hard surfaces, such as concrete, asphalt, and steel, you’ll notice the difference in comfort the Marin’s wedge sole offers by spreading your weight out better than heeled boots. If you’re typically on bare ground or climbing ladders, the 90° heel option is your better bet.

The Ohman

If you like the convenience of a slip-on boot but aren’t interested in a full Wellington style, Brunt’s Ohman features a Romeo design that fits the bill. Inspired by Lee Ohman, a union electrician by day and a self-taught woodworker by night, the wedge sole design is great for hard surfaces, while the characteristic side cutouts provide outstanding breathability to keep your feet cooler.
The easy on and off, wedge sole comfort, breathability, and light weight (just 1 lb, 10 oz for size 9) make the Ohman an attractive choice for many tradesmen. The key is whether you need a waterproof boot or require a heel. If either of those is a must-have, you’ll need to consider a different boot.

- Electrical Hazard (EH) Protection
- Polyurethane (PU) Midsole

The Vastbinder

For those of you who prefer a Western-style work boot, Brunt’s Vastbinder is the boot for you. Designed with bull rider and rancher Eli Vastbinder, this 10-inch square toe work boot features Brunt’s plush CUSH’N midsole paired with an aggressive outsole tread and heel that’s great for traction on bare ground. Thanks to a Goodyear welt, the construction is tough and you’re able to resole it down the road.
The Vastbinder’s outsole is excellent at providing traction on bare ground, and the heel helps you catch the rungs on a ladder. At the same time, the heel isn’t as pronounced as a logger, and with the cushy midsole, it’s a safe bet on hard surfaces as well if you’re not interested in going with a wedge.

The Rivas

If you’ve ever ordered Brunt workwear, chances are the man behind the Rivas had a hand in it. Named after Brunt’s warehouse manager, Luis Rivas, this work shoe is designed to provide comfort, safety, and durability in a lightweight package purpose-built for working on warehouse floors and running warehouse equipment.
As a composite toe work shoe, the Rivas is a great choice for environments where traction is key and toe protection is required or advantageous, but you don’t need the additional ankle stability of a taller work boot or waterproofing. Warehouses are a great example, as well as shops with concrete floors or other indoor working conditions.
Key Technologies and Options
- Non-metallic Composite Safety Toe
- Non-mutilating Upper
- CUSH’N Midsole
- Electrical Hazard (EH) Protection
- 100% Non-metallic Build
- Black or Gray Colorway
The Bolduc

If you’re after a work boot that has the convenience of a pull-on design with a waterproof “I’m here to get things done” roper attitude, the Brunt Boldoc is your answer. It’s named after Dan Bolduc, who started his career as a plumber before becoming the Assistant Superintendent of the water supply and treatment system for Bristol, CT. With a job like that, there’s no telling what you’re going to wade into each day, and that’s what the Bolduc was designed for.
From a technology standpoint, the Bolduc is very similar to the Marin, but with fewer options. The wedge sole design is great for working on hard surfaces, though the 9-inch roper style favors plumbers, drivers, utility workers, landscaping crews, and others who may need to quickly step in and out of their boots throughout the day to avoid tracking wet messes where they don’t want them.

The Ryng

The Ryng stands out in Brunt’s lineup thanks to its abrasion-resistant nylon-blend upper that includes a waterproof lining option. Inspired by US Army veteran and lineman, Skyler Ryng, it combines the safety toe, light weight, waterproofing, and EH rating that his job demands. If all that sounds good but you don’t need the ankle support of a 6-inch boot, it’s also available as a 4-inch model that has the look of a work shoe with the build of a work boot.
As Skyler set the table for us, it’s clearly a good fit for linemen as well as electricians in general. The outsole’s heel and aggressive tread offer excellent traction on bare and loose ground, so there’s a ton of potential for the Ryng as an all-around boot that can cover almost any trade.
