US Stock Market Today: S&P 500 Futures Rise as December Rate Cut Odds Climb

The Morning Bull – US Market Morning Update Wednesday, Nov, 12 2025

US stock futures are pointing higher this morning, as investors focus on mixed signals from the labor market and the growing chance of a December interest rate cut. The main factor fueling optimism is a 68% probability of rates being cut, which has lifted key futures like the S&P 500 by about 0.4% before the bell. However, job data shows private employers are slowing their hiring, with job cuts averaging over 11,000 a week, the highest since 2003. On one hand, lower rates could help sectors such as real estate and small businesses. On the other hand, the slowdown in hiring puts consumer spending and company profits in the spotlight. The central question is whether cooling jobs will force the Federal Reserve to act sooner, and if rate-sensitive sectors can recover before the broader economy loses momentum.
