Ex-NFL star Antonio Brown pleads not guilty to second-degree attempted murder over shooting incident.

Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown has pleaded not guilty to second-degree attempted murder in relation to a shooting incident in May.

The 2021 Super Bowl winner was extradited to the United States last week after being arrested in Dubai and his plea was filed by his attorney Mark Eiglarsh in Miami on Tuesday.

Following an investigation into the incident in Miami on 17 May, police issued an arrest warrant in June which alleged Brown took a gun from a security guard and fired two shots at a man he had brawled with earlier on.

No arrests were made at the time and no injuries were reported.

Brown had been detained by police at the time of the incident before being released.

The 37-year-old’s attorney Eiglarsh has requested a trial by jury. If Brown goes to trial and is convicted, he could serve as many as 15 years in prison.

A statement issued by Eiglarsh has also been posted on Brown’s X account,, external which reads: “The actions he was forced to take were solely in self-defence against the alleged victim’s violent behaviour.

“Brown was attacked that night and acted within his legal right to protect himself from an individual who previously committed criminal acts against him.”

Brown spent the first nine years of his 12-year career with the Pittsburgh Steelers and scored a touchdown as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl in 2021, before playing his final NFL game with the Bucs in January 2022.
