CAMBRIDGE – A plethora of high school football players have been recognized for their outstanding play this season with all-Eastern District honors. This is the first step towards all-Ohio honors.

The teams are selected by media members from the Eastern District who take into consideration nominations from head coaches and statistics compiled and supplied by the schools.

Several players received Player of the Year status among Divisions V through VII.

Barnesville tailback Trey Toliver was the D-V Offensive Player of the Year, while Barnesville linebacker Hines Ford shared the Defensive Player of the Year award with St. Clairsville defensive end Colton Florence; and Bridgeport quarterback Jaki Threet was voted the D-VII Offensive Player of the Year.

Toliver has led the Shamrocks to the Division V Region 19 semifinals with nearly 1,500 yards rushing and 26 touchdowns. Ford is a force in the middle of the defense with 140 tackles, while Florence charted 11 quarterback sacks and seven tackles for lost yardage.
