More On Townsquare’s Michigan Changes


The Ticket 1240 106.9 WJIM LansingAs Townsquare Media prepares to flip four of its stations in Michigan to simulcasts of Audacy’s “97.1 The Ticket” WXYT-FM Detroit, we know more about their plans for branding and how it will affect a change at another station within the company.

95.3 WBCK Battle Creek, 1360 WKMI Kalamazoo, and 1240 WJIM/106.9 W295BP Lansing will each tak on the “Ticket” branding like WXYT-FM. As Cumulus Media already claims the brand in Grand Rapids on “1340 The Ticket” WJRW/106.1 W291DJ, when WFGR flips it will be just “Sports Radio 98.7“.

In Lansing, some of the Talk programming moving off of WJIM will relocate to what is now “730 The Game” WVFN will become “Lansing 730” with a mix of Talk and Sports.

WJIM morning host Steve Gruber will move to WVFN, while its 9am-12pm show “Michigan’s Big Show” hosted by Michael Patrick Shiels will move to afternoons from 3-6pm. “Staudt on Sports” hosted by Tim Staudt will move up an hour to 9am to 12pm. Current WVFN morning host Matt Sheppard will move to 12-3pm. The 6-9pm hour will be announced at a later date with the statewide syndicated “The Huge Show” hosted by Bill Simonson will move from afternoons to 9pm-12am. Syndicated talkers Dave Ramsey and Red Eye Radio will run in overnights replacing ESPN Radio. WVFN will also continue to serve as the home of Michigan State University Sports play-by-play.
