The two survivors of the Oct. 6 medical helicopter crash on Highway 50 have both been released from the hospital.
REACH Air Medical Services, the operator of the helicopter, said on social media pilot Chad Millward was released this week. Paramedic Margaret “DeDe” Davis was discharged late last week. Both are now in inpatient rehabilitation facilities.
“Both continue to demonstrate substantial progress in their recovery,” REACH wrote.
Millward and Davis were critically injured when the helicopter went down just after 7 p.m. shortly after taking off from UC Davis Medical Center. The crash halted traffic on the eastbound stretch of the highway for several hours.
A third crewmember aboard the aircraft, Flight Nurse Susan “Suzie” Smith, was also critically injured. She succumbed to her injuries several days after the crash. Smith’s body was later flown back to Red Bluff, where an honor procession escorted her home to Palo Cedro.
A public memorial for Smith will be held Nov. 14 at the Redding Civic Auditorium, starting at 6 p.m.
