Three suspects were arrested after a woman was robbed and briefly dragged during a purse-grabbing outside a Sacramento supermarket, the sheriff’s office said.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three suspects in connection with a violent robbery that happened outside the SF Supermarket on Stockton Boulevard on Oct. 22.
According to officials, a 57-year-old woman was loading groceries into her vehicle when a car with three people, only described as males, pulled up beside her.
Deputies said a boy got out of the car, grabbed the woman’s purse and tried to pull her toward the car.
According to the sheriff’s office, she held onto her purse, and the boy climbed back into the vehicle, still gripping the purse. Deputies said the car then sped away, briefly dragging the woman before she lost her grip and fell. The suspects left with her purse.
Several hours after the robbery, deputies found the suspected vehicle at a home in South Sacramento and took it into evidence.
On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office arrested all three suspects: 23-year-old James Freeman and 22-year-old Anthony Richard and the boy, who was not identified.
Authorities say that Richard was arrested just weeks earlier in a separate robbery case while he was on his way to court for an unrelated matter.
Both Freeman and Richard are currently ineligible for bail and are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday. Juvenile court information is not publicly available.
