Former Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has stated that the past ten months away from frontline politics have been among the most meaningful periods of his life.
Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express on November 18, 2025, he disclosed that the break has been marked by deep reflection, rest and a renewed sense of purpose.
“In the last 10 months, I’ve been enjoying life,” he said, describing a rare phase of calm after years of intense political activity.

Dr Opoku Prempeh said he has been using the period to read and unwind.
“I have been reading and enjoying life, my brother,” he said.
He explained that stepping back from political duties has allowed him to slow down and re-centre himself.
According to him, the period has included travelling across the country on what he described as a listening tour, reconnecting with communities and grounding himself again.
“I’ve been going around the country on a listening tour. I’ve been reconnecting to my roots and establishing my foot firmly on the ground,” he noted.
Dr Opoku Prempeh said the break has offered not only rest but introspection, giving him clarity about the future.

“I’ve been mostly listening, reflecting, doing a soul search on what’s the purpose going forward,” he established.
He added that despite his many years in active politics, the stillness and perspective gained in the past months have been unmatched.
“So, it’s been the best time in the last probably 16 years,” he indicated.
