Never mind this month was the show’s 25th anniversary or that a Gilmore Girls-themed advent calendar is currently doing numbers over on Amazon—this is the fall show. And perhaps, as you’ve queued up the next episode in your cozy binge, you’ve found yourself yearning for the idyllic, bucolic utopia of Stars Hollow, Connecticut.
While we can’t make fiction a reality, we can give you a a few ideas on how to add some Gilmore Girls-inspired whimsy to your home, making that fantasy the slightest bit more real. A Kitchen Like Luke’s Diner
Luke’s Diner is full of mismatched chairs that reflect the typical “acquired” style of the Gilmore Girls sets.
According to the show’s set designer for seasons four through six, Rachel Kamerman, one of the key parts of any Gilmore Girls set was to make sure everything looked acquired. “The imperfection is the perfection,” Kamerman says. “You don’t want anything to be too perfect and too cookie cutter. I think everything there in Stars Hollow looks like it is acquired.” No one thing can be from the same place—you’ve got to mix and match. That quality especially comes through with the chairs in Luke’s diner. For your kitchen, blend a variety of chair styles, silhouettes, and colors. A Dragonfly Inn-Inspired Living Room
Set designer Rachel Kamerman explains to ELLE Decor that much of the Dragonfly Inn was inspired by Lorelai and Sookie’s indecision when designing it.
